05 — QUESTIONS, ANSWERED
Know the system before you light it.
Is an alcohol stove better than a gas stove?+
Neither is universally better. Blaze is a deliberate choice for solo boils, brews and simple meals when you want a quiet system and the ability to carry a planned amount of fuel. Gas is usually better for groups, low temperatures, fast repeated boils and adjustable cooking power.
What fuel should I use?+
Use only alcohol fuel approved by RidgeSong for this stove, carried in a suitable fuel bottle. Never use gasoline, canister gas or another unapproved fuel. Follow the fuel label and all local fire restrictions.
How much fuel does the chamber hold?+
The chamber capacity is 100ml. The recommended maximum fill is 80ml, leaving working space inside the chamber. Actual burn time varies with fuel, weather, cookware and setup.
Can I add fuel while the stove is burning?+
No. Never refill a burning or hot stove. Confirm the flame is fully out, allow every component to cool completely, and only then handle or refill the chamber.
Can I use it inside a tent or vehicle?+
No. Use the stove outdoors only, on a stable, level and non-combustible surface with clear space around and above it. Never use it inside a tent, vehicle or enclosed shelter.
Is the stove completely windproof?+
No. The integrated body improves shielding around the burn chamber, but no compact alcohol stove should be treated as stormproof. In strong wind, do not light the stove; move to a safer sheltered location.
Can alcohol flame be difficult to see?+
Yes. Alcohol flame may be hard to see in daylight. The glowing energy mesh provides an additional visual cue, but it does not remove the hazard. Treat the stove as lit or hot until you have confirmed it is extinguished and fully cooled.
How does it perform in cold weather?+
Alcohol vaporizes and burns less effectively as temperature drops. For freezing temperatures or severe conditions, choose a heat source designed for those conditions rather than relying on Blaze as your only stove.
Does it work with the RidgeSong Hammered Pot?+
Yes. The built-in supports are designed to accommodate the RidgeSong Hammered Tea & Coffee Fusion Titanium Trekking Pot. Place the pot centrally and confirm it is stable before lighting.
Will it blacken the bottom of my pot?+
The controlled alcohol burn and energy-mesh interface are designed to help reduce blackening on compatible cookware under normal use. Results vary with fuel purity, contamination, airflow and cookware condition, so the page does not treat a perfectly clean pot bottom as an absolute guarantee.
How should I pack and store it?+
Let every part cool, remove any fuel according to RidgeSong instructions, wipe the components clean and dry, then place them in the included storage bag. Transport fuel separately in an approved, sealed fuel bottle.

Delivery took a while, but it's here.
It's very well made, right up there with Silver Ant and Fire Maple gear, but it works extremely well. The grate is a nice addition; while it's not clear how much it contributes to the stove's output that the double-wall arrangement by itself doesn't, the system together works really well. The grate also makes lighting the stove very easy; all it took was pouring the alcohol through the grate, and then giving it a spark with a ferrocerium firestarter. One spark was enough; the alcohol n the grate acts a bit like a wick, taking a spark very easily. Once lit, the stove bloomed up in short order, and heated some nice, cold water to boiling in just a few minutes. The water was in the filter in the fridge, so it was cold rather than room temperature.

Great little stove, boils quickly and quietly.
2 criticisms: firstly it's a bit thirsty on fuel and secondly, and this is more of a problem, there is no way to extinguish the flame. Once lit you have no option but to wait until all the fuel is used up.
If the manufacturer can come up with a way to extinguish the flame when required this will be a 5 star product.
